December 1st! BFC Week 33

Hello Everybody, I have no idea what happened to my week.  One minute it's just the end of Thanksgiving and the next minute it is a week later!  Good grief!

Anyway, yesterday was Wednesday and that is weigh in day for me.  I lost the pound I  supposedly gained over Thanksgiving and am back to 168lbs.  Will I ever be off of 168lbs, that is the question!  I only have 18 lbs left to get to my goal of 150lbs. Maybe these last 18 are the harder pounds to lose.  I don't know.  I know I still have belly fat to lose. That is the area on me where the fat collects the most.  I know I have lost all over, but why is it that your trouble areas are always the last to go?!   I started thinking about how I can tweak this diet a little to start losing again.  I really don't cheat when it comes to eating sugars or the wrong carbs.  I started thinking that maybe what I'm doing wrong is eating between meals.  Yes, I will have a handful of nuts, or a coconut flour cookie or muffin in between breakfast and lunch or between lunch and dinner, so maybe that is where my problem lies.   I am going to try to eat a bigger breakfast and a bigger lunch to see if I can stop myself from additional eating between meals.  That's the plan anyway - hopefully I can stick to it.

Today I put away ALL my pumpkins, turkeys, and Fall foilage and got out my Christmas decorations.  My husband and sons had already put up our outside lights last weekend since the weather was mild then and it was easier to do.  I like to wait until December 1st to put up the inside stuff just 'cause I'm weird like that.  More likely it is because that is what my mother did and so now that is what I do.  I told everyone at dinner that I think we should go get our tree this weekend.  Gasp!   We usually go cut down a tree two weeks before Christmas and this weekend would be three weeks before Christmas!  What am I thinking, they all wanted to know, did I think I could keep the tree alive for that extra week??  I  assured them I was up for the challenge and if I couldn't well I had certainly hauled trees out the door before that had only a few needles left on them and I could do it again if I had to.  So hopefully we will get the tree up this Sunday, and my house will smell like pine again.  I love that smell!

You may have noticed that while I was decorating for Christmas I tried to decorate my blog a little bit too.  If I knew what I was doing when it came to blog designs I'd be dangerous!  Just for the little change you see here, there are three hours of my life that I will never see again!  Since Pattie asked us to add some pictures of our decorating I thought I'd show you this little Snowman I put up every year.  It came to me from my Grandmother after she died.  Every year she put him up in her kitchen window. When I was young my mother kept up the tradition with her own snowman that she put up every year in the kitchen just like grandma, she would say.  So when I got this guy I put him out the very first year in my kitchen to remind me of my grandmother.  He is old, and used to have a broom that got lost so I gave him a wreath to hold.  It's one of my boys favorite decorations because of the story behind it and hopefully one of them will put him in their kitchen one day.
That's it for me today.  I usually do the blogs in the morning but here it is 11:00pm.  I'm off to bed!

  1. I love your new blog page and the snowman. Such great memories of your Grandmother I am sure. I have not started decorating indoors yet but did get our lights on last weekend. I am sure you will figure out what works best for you on this diet and to get back to losing again. Sometimes it takes a few changes to shock our bodies into losing again.

  2. Your Santa is special and that is the best kind of Christmas decor!
I like your blog, it looks festive. I would guess by January 1, we will be ready for this crazy, fun, food filled, time to be over!
You will make it to your goal because you aren't giving up! I'm excited for you.

  3. Hi Beth. Love, love the snowman, and the story. Those types of traditions are so special. So regarding the tree, I consider myself somewhat of an expert in that area! LOL! In years past we always put up 3 to 4 real trees. I'm nut like that. And we ALWAYS get them the day after Thanksgiving and don't take them down until the week after New Years. That's a long time, and although they are pretty dried out after 6 or so weeks up, they last very well until after Christmas. The only one that ever dried up fast was the kitchen one, and I think that's because of the fireplace and cooking makes it too warm in there. Now we have an artificial one, so no problem. we only got one large tree this year, but put it up the day after Thanksgiving. Here's what I do to keep them fresh. My husband always makes a fresh cut at the base. Then when putting them in the stand, I always water with very hot tap water to which I add the commercial Christmas tree preservatives. I don't know where I read, heard or maybe I thought it up about hot water, but it makes sense to me as the sap seals off the tree stump and I think the hot water helps dissolve it and the tree drinks more water. My tree has been drinking at least a half a gallon a day since I put it up. It will slow down, but I think it keeps it fresher if it drinks alot in the beginning. I used to use one of those watering boxes that look like a present. It sits under the tree and the water gets siphoned out as the tree needs it. But htis year I bought a long red funnel that sits in the tree stand. It's at the back of the tree andyou just water the tree through it. Very easy. Maybe I'll post some pictures. So god for it. Get that tree early! It's such a joy to have it up early and makes the season last longer. Also regarding the weight loss, I think you are nearing the end, so the last pounds will be the slowest. I do think that making any changes, get things going again, so maybe giving up those snacks will help. Hugs from me to you!

  4. I love the changes to your blog, very festive. How special that you have the snowman that your Grandma had. Have a wonderful day :)

  5. Good morning Beth! I have trouble with snacks, too. I think if I could manage to stop snacking so much between meals I could lose a little bit more, or at least maintain a more even weight. Good luck with your new plan, and let me know how it goes!

  6. Hi Beth! I do believe that I too need to switch something up to get myself on a faster losing train. Its so frustrating and now with the holidays & parties every weekend, it is going to be more challenging, but I will do my best as I know you will too.
I loved your story about your grandmas snowman! What a precious memory and I love that your boys appreciate the meaning behind it. I have a beautiful lemon colored glass tray & trinket box from my grandma & I love it. It reminds me of those days when I would go into her bedroom & play with her beautiful hairbrush & I remmebr admiring that lemon colored glass every time I went there, & when she died my aunt asked me if I would like it. OF course I jumped at the chance! The kicker is, about a year ago, my aunt mentioned that she would like it back to complete the set. I guess there are candle holders too. Pretty tacky to ask that, sont you think? Anyways, I am holding on to it as it is my only reminder of her other than what I remember & whats in my heart. She was a sweet lady & Im sure your grandma was too!
Happy decorating! Nothing like those lights being up to get us in the christmas mood.
Keep on keepin on girl! YOu will be at 150 in no time! Im right behind you! :)

  7. Your blog looks sweet-and I love that you have these precious memories of your Grandma.
You'll be in the 150's before we know it.
I hope you have a great day!

  8. Hey Girl, I love your blog look and the snowman. Have fun decorating. Hubby and I use a fake tree cause its just the 2 of us.
The weight thing, just try skipping the morning snack and that will probably help. My last 10 lbs took forever, so don't give up!
    Have a great day :-)

  9. I love the festive blog and the fact that you added how to do the BFC at the top! Sometimes we need these reminders to keep it real:) Do you eat grain carbs with dinner? If so, maybe you could keep your snacks and do like Rosalie does and stop the grain carbs after 3pm. If you already do that, then maybe just the morning snack needs to be cut, like Rosalie said :) Good LUck and Merry Christmas! :)

  10. Carey, thanks for your encouragement! I took Rosalies advice a long time ago about not eating carbs at dinner! I cut the snacking out today and with the help of a few cups of tea, made it to dinner without being too hungry. I'll let you know if it helps!

  11. Good job on getting back down to your previous weight. I love your snowman sweet.

  12. Loving the Christmas theme! I need a major change to my layout too.

On snacks, how abt trying to get more protein in your meals? I did this a long while back and it really helps reduce the need for snacks. Worked for me! If that doesn't sound good, try pre-portioning them so you see very clearly what you can have. I tend to keep going back and back for the snacks.
