Thursday - November 11

Well, just as expected when I weighed myself yesterday (my official weigh-in day) I was still 168lbs.  I've come to find out that this is just how my body works.  I stay the same weight for quite awhile and then all of a sudden I'll go down a pound or two.  It's been slow but I've still come a long way since last April.  I would like to get to 150lbs.  Someone asked how tall I am and I'm almost 5'7" so I think 150 lbs would be a good weight.  I'm giving myself until April to lose the last 18 pounds so that way I'm not putting too much pressure on myself.
So I haven't had any bread for about a month.  I was doing the FT and stuck with it all the way for about two weeks and then started adding in coconut flour products and then some steel cut oats in the morning.  Yesterday I basically went back to the original BFC and for lunch I had a two pita pizzas with Delallo marinara sauce (7g,1 sugar for 1/2 cup) mozzarella and turkey bacon. It was delicious and the best part was I wasn't hungry for the rest of the afternoon!  For dinner we had chicken frajitas with grilled peppers, sour cream and homemade pico de gallo - I just eat it all on my plate and don't put it on a tortilla.  I felt great all day!  I think I missed my regular food!
This brings me to the fact that I believe, for me, the FT was a little too restrictive.  It didn't seem to make me lose any faster than I was losing before and it left me a little hungry and maybe a little unsatisfied.  I think because I was hungry between meals I was making pumpkin muffins and lemon coconut bread and stuff like that and was grabbing bites of it all day instead of just filling up at each meal with good foods.   I will probably still make the lemon coconut bread (my favorite) or the coconut cookies but will use them in place of a piece of chocolate after dinner instead of a way to keep me full during the day.

Speaking of eating during the day, does anyone else ever come up short trying to think of things to have for lunch?    I enjoyed the pita pizzas and they are quick to make but of course I can't have them every day.  I have never been a sandwich girl for lunch because I don't really like lunch meats - which is probably a good thing. I do like peanut butter sandwiches but don't want to have too many of them.  I would rely on leftovers but very rarely are their leftovers in this house of men and if there are I can't get to them before someone else does.   Half the time my lunch time is spent running around doing errands so I'm not really in the house to cook and need something quick and easy for lunch.  I remember one time Pattie posted everyone's good ideas for breakfast and I was just wondering what everyone did for lunch.

I started tracking my food again with "My fitness Pal" because I was getting really lazy about doing that.  If you eat different things, or make a new recipe you have to type in all the ingredients and stuff to get it stored.  Sometimes I just try to find something already in the program that is very similar to what I've eaten.   I have it set up to monitor carbs, sugars, fiber, sodium and calories.   I'm still trying to keep my calories decent and my sugars below the 16 allowed and my total carbs at under 80.

I really do like hearing about everyone's great ideas and new recipes but I already feel better just going back to the basics the way I started, and think it will definitely be easier through the holidays.  I'm a little behind on the blogs and am going to read them now!  Hope everyone is doing well!

  1. Hi Beth. Well it just happens that I'm typing and eating lunch :) Today's menu included a piece of toast with butter, some meatballs and 2 sticks of celery with cream cheese. We don't have a lot of food in the house so I had to make do with what we have. I also like tuna (w/o the bread) or I make a salad and add the pre-made grilled chicken. I tried to do the FT this week, but realized that it wasn't such a good idea during PMS (sorry, TMI). My body wants carbs this week and I will eat the healthy BFC friendly ones.

  2. HI Beth, I am just about 5'7" also and 150lbs feels perfect for me. I wear a size 8 and a medium which I never thought was possible in my wildest dreams. I'm sure that will be perfect for you too.
I've been saying that the FT is not for everyone and FOR ME, the regular BFC is the best. Because I like to eat and I guess I need those healthy carbs once in a while.
When I eat the coconut stuff I eat it in place of a carb or bread item.
As far as lunch, I am at home everyday and its easy for me to fix whatever I want.
    Have a great day :-)

  3. Hi Beth. I like a sandwich for lunch. I was never a big lunch meat person, but I do like the Ever roast breast of chicken from Boars Head. I put some mayo and mustard on it with a slice of cheese, and some lettuce and tomato. I have a confession, my husband accidentally bought the whole wheat sandwich thins. So I made a sandwich on them. They do have 2 gms of sugar, but they are made from whole wheat. I really enjoy my little sandwich on them and it fills me up. Also if you like bacon, you could make a BLT on toast. I like it on the Ezekial. I also like to grill up some chicken breasts, and slice them up and keep in the fridge. They are good to throw on top of a salad, or for a sandwich, or even make a lettuce wrap. It's funny that you wrote about that post I did regarding breakfast. I had meant to follow up with one for lunch and dinner, but I forgot. Maybe I will soon! Hugs to you from me!

  4. I'm steaming up some 'hard boiled' eggs right now that I'll use for lunch the next few days - I like deviled eggs. I'll have some celery with that or you could have some toast or whatever as a side. They're easy to make up ahead too.

  5. Hi Beth-I do eat lots of salads for lunch. I need hardy ones w/mix of good protein. I always have veggies and try to cook extra chicken (or whatever), so I have those on hand. I love veggies-so that's easy for me-a fast go to meal.
I work from my home, so I have the luxury of not having to pack a lunch each day. I would probably still pack a salad.
Sometimes I do breakfast for lunch...and dinner.

  6. I'm not on the BFC, but I thought I'd share anyway. ;-)
Salads, tuna, hard boiled eggs, chix/veg soup (homemade), hummus and pita chips, salsa on ANYTHING. One thing I do find, if I prep it days ahead and have it ready-to-go I'm more apt to eat well! It's also less time consuming if I fix salads and soups for several days at a time.

  7. Beth, I agree with you about needing ideas for lunch that seems to be my hardest meal. I usually take a whole wheat wrap with lunch meat, cheese and a little mayo, mustard and sometimes I take a salad. I hard a hard time of the FT too I never felt satisfied so the regular BFC so the way to go for me.

  8. I have said all along I think the Fast Track is too restrictive. I stand by that. I am glad that it works for people, but the BFC is a lifestyle. I have eaten the sandwich thins since I started BFC. They do have 2 sugars, but we get 5 per meal. I don't generally have anything else with sugar in it. I have pepperoni sandwiches, they are yummy, I think a can of chicken noodle soup falls within the 5/2 rule. A burger with no bun or 1/2 a bun. Sometimes I even have cheerios for lunch since I have my sandwich thin and sausage for breakfast.
You are doing great. I agree with Rosalie that 150 would be a great place for you to be happy at. You are tall:) You are getting so close and I am very happy for you. The weight will eventually go away, just like all of the inches are melting away.
Oh, I was also eating PB and the Nature's Hollow jam sandwiches too. I just love the sandwich thins because they are so easy. I don't like the wheat ones as well as the whole wheat white ones, but that isn't an option anymore since they quit making them:( Good thing it was when I was pretty much at goal!
I know my house will be empty, but I am trying to remember how nice it was to have it clean! I spend so much time picking up after my daughter every day. Life moves on! Thank God I love my husband and can have fun with him!

  9. I really like dinner leftovers for lunch, hearty salads and soups. I usually eat more at lunch than dinner because when hubby and I both get home and eat it's often 7 or 7:30, so I just like to have a little dinner.

  10. I think 150 will be great for you, as tall as you are. If FT felt too restrictive, then you did the right thing. I would recommend tracking your meals S/C Values again. My Mom just broke into the 160s today and is so thrilled, and I remember getting to them too. For some reason 165 was a sticking point for me for years... I could never get past it. Until BFC. Stick with you Beth and it will pay off!
