I'm having a bit of writers block trying to come up with something to talk about on here. Nothing is really new or different.  My weight this week was the same -big surprise.  I'm thinking I might have to do something to shake things up a bit but I'm not sure what?  I realize that the last 18 lbs will be the slowest to lose.  Rosalie said she took a long time to lose the last pounds, and Amber said she was stuck for a long time also, so I'm not really discouraged...just tired of being at this weight!  It really is like the scale is stuck - but I know its not, all of us in the house use the same scale.
To give you an idea of what I'm eating, here are my last two days as far as I remember:

Day 1
Breakfast:  two coffees with heavy cream, benefiber, and stevia
                scrambled eggs with mushrooms, onions, bit of spinach and bit of cheddar cheese
          
Lunch:   Chiplote salad with black beans, cheese, grilled peppers, and pica de gallo

Dinner - grilled slices of london broil with wine sauce, mashed cauliflower with cream and Parmesan,
             steamed broccoli
Snacks thru out day:  coffee with decaff, cream stevia, two coconut muffins, 3 squares Lindt 85%
                                chocolate

Day 2:
Breakfast - two coffees with heavy cream, benefiber and stevia
                 3 link sausages, scrambled eggs with onion, cheese and mushrooms
Lunch - Running errands so had two orange flavored coconut muffins, handful of roasted almonds, and
             cup of decaf with truvia and heavy cream

Dinner - homemade meatballs in spaghetti sauce (Delallo 1sugar per serving), green beans marinated
             in vinegar and capers
                         
Snacks thru out day: two coconut muffins, 3 squares Lindt 85% chocolate, coffee with decaf, stevia,
                               and cream

So those are basically my days.  I think everything is allowed and within the boundaries of the BFC, but maybe it's too much rich food.  I don't know. 

I'll tell you one thing that is a bit hard when following the BFC and that is cooking dinner for six people every night.  I have to come up with something everyone likes and will eat, but I have to make sure it's BFC friendly for my husband, my son and myself.  Here is an example of how frustrating this can be.   I tried Jorge's Raspberry Porkchops one night for dinner.  By the time I prepared the raspberry/mustard coating sauce and ground up enough nuts to dip it in and then coated seven pork-chops (a girlfriend here that night) and got two huge pans out to fry them in, trying to make sure they didn't stick to the pans (which they did), and meanwhile got brussell sprouts chopped up and put on roasting pan in oven with olive oil salt and pepper, and then had to make a pot of brown rice for my non BFC eaters.  It becomes quite a chore!!  After all that, no one really liked the pork chops that much!  They were met with such a lackluster reception that they are off this house's recipe list.

I sometimes think how much easier this would be if I was just cooking for myself!!  First of all I could eat when I wanted to, not at a set dinner time (here it is 6:00pm), secondly when you are just making one piece of protein you can take much more care in the cooking and do it right, and thirdly I wouldn't have to come up with some kind of brown rice, whole wheat pasta, or potato to go with my meal(because I don't eat them any way!) and lastly I could eat the same recipes over and over and not have to worry about people being bored with the menu.    Oh well, one day they'll all be moved out and then I'll probably miss my days of family dinners........or not?

It can definitely get frustrating not seeing the scale move, but honestly I think sometimes the body just wants a break to adjust to all the recent changes and will start moving again once it's ready. I've seen this happen over and over again with people, including myself. Usually what helps me is to consciously eat double the amount of vegetables. For some reason the bulk, added fiber, and low calorie aspect of doing this seems to get things moving again.

    Cooking can be one of the most frustrating things for me as well. Because, for the most part, we are all trying new recipes, we have no idea how they'll go over with the family. It's a risk worth taking when you come upon a meal that turns out great, but it's frustrating when no body likes the dish and you feel like so much time and ingredients were wasted. Most of the time I try to make meals that my family already likes and then adjust them to be healthier which usually works out good because I know that they already like the flavors of the dish; as long as I keep the flavors/seasonings the same it works out okay. I can't wait to try Rosalie's lasagna. That's one dish I haven't made in a very long time because I've been afraid of how my family would respond to having absolutely no noodles in there, but Rosalie seems to have gotten such a good response from her husband, which in my house is usually a good sign since husbands seem to be the most resistant to change, so this gives me courage to give it a try. I have all the ingredients to make it, so I'll probably make it tonight.

    1. I like the idea of doubling veggies. Maybe that will get me over this stall. How did the lasagna turn out?

  2. Beth, the comment about making something that everyone likes is why I hated to cook. No matter what I was making, at least one of my kids would say, gross!!! I guess I took it to personally.
    Have you used myfitnesspal? It has been an eye opener for me as far as calories/sodium. I eat way too much sodium.
    I see that you have the dark chocolate every day. Did you know you could have a potato instead? Or a cutie orange? They may have a little more sugar or carbs, but it is making it work for what you are wanting/needing/easy to eat. That's why I have potatoes. I would rather have that than the dark chocolate. Again, I guess I am really lucky that I don't snack because it really does save 100's of calories a day.
    You will eventually lose the weight, it does take a LONG time when you get closer. My only advice is to eat what you love. Fit it in. I think I remember that you said you were afraid you would not be able to stop? I put my food on the plate and never return to the stove or the cupboard. I eat only what is on the plate.
    I set myfitnesspal like Amber so that my sugar/carbs are what is counted. Surprisingly even with eating the potatoes and the cuties, I am rarely over S/C.
    I would agree with what you said about how much we earn to stay home, but my kids are grown and I have house cleaners 2x a month. I could buy a Kindle if I cleaned my own house. I am spoiled:)

    1. I like this new little reply thing Blogger has. I used "My Fitness Pal" forever in the beginning, and then I got lazy recording every single thing I ate every night. I do still use it to see how many sugars and carbs are in new recipes. I might try subbing a few potatoes for chocolate on some days.

    IDK your food sounds great to me. But I only eat 1 or 2 squares of the chocolate at a time and I don't use heavy cream in my coffee - I use the powdered coffee mate

    1. On the days I have three pieces of Lindt I usually have on square after lunch and two after dinner. For some reason I seem to crave something "sweet" after I eat.

  4. Hi Beth. Trying to catch up again. I know what you mean about the cooking. I am having a hard time with everyone home for the holiday. One son left today and another leaves on Wednesday. I would say I'll be back to normal, but now I will be up at my brothers house everyday to get the kids after school until he gets home from work. So I'm going to have to come up with a new plan. Also wanted to say thanks for all the kind, comforting words you have writtenon my blog. Big hugs from me to you.

  5. I dont like making 2 dinners which is why I love doing WW. I am going to do Simply Filling full out this week & gonna really pull back on the sugars & carbs & see what happens. I am hoping to get back to the gym this week too. I too feel like I have been stuck in the 170s FOREVER and I am really getting sick & tired of it. I feel like everyone is passing me by with their weight loss. I told my sister today that I dontt want to see June come & still be in the 170s or 160s (whenever that will happen!)I want to be at goal by then. Why oh why cant the scale start to move again??? Must we beg?? I would if it would make the number go down. haha! Keep your chin up pretty girl! Things will get better for us!

  6. Hi Beth, my advice would be Kay's suggestion of My Fitness Pal. It really can be an eye opener. I bet after a couple of days something will jump out at you that needs to be changed. It's hard to track everything (for me that is, maybe not for you at all), but maybe just a few days will be all it takes. Hope the dinner prep gets better.

  7. Cat, I was using "My Fitness Pal" faithfully in the beginning, but then got too lazy to record my foods every night. I think I'll just try easier dinners for awhile to give myself a break!

  9. I am also having blogger's block. And I hear ya about the cooking part too! I wish everyone didn't need so much variety. That's what gets me. If I could I would just cook the same 7 dinners every week. Maybe I should try that and see how long it takes them to start to complain? LOL.
