Thursday Feb. 9th - week 43

Hi everyone, so sorry I've been absent from the blogs this past week.  I feel like I've been having such a bad week and was so immersed in it I didn't even realize how bad it was.  I told you in my last blog that my aunt was hospitalized.  I'm her power of attorney (she has no kids) so when anything goes on with her I have to be involved.  I feel like I spent ALL last week at the hospital - waiting. I finally got her back to her assisted living late last Friday night.  Her bad leg is still hurting (they never addressed it) but at least she is hydrated again.  Just as I thought, she doesn't want to see the vascular surgeon, so I'm giving her a week to see if she can manage the pain with what the assisted living gives her.  If not, she may let me make an appt. for her.   On top of that my husbands uncle died that same Friday.  He was 84 and had been sick for quite awhile, but with his families culture it was a really big deal which required us to be at houses, churches and cemeteries for three days straight.  Seeing his relatives that come from all over the country and keeping up with the different way they do things - a bit stressful.   Finally on Tuesday, we were back to normal and I was trying to catch up our business' taxes and stuff like that.  It's really a pain this year for some reason, plus I still have to do my Aunt's taxes, and our rental business taxes.  Yuck!  On Tuesday night my dog that has congestive heart failure got bit by my other healthy dog - over a stick he was chewing from the firewood!   They haven't done anything like that in a long time!  So I was worried to death about my sick dog, but he looked OK.  Yesterday when I got up, I see that my sick dog has a swollen face and now doesn't want to eat or take any of his pills.  I watched him all day yesterday and finally coaxed him into taking his pills with a bit of chicken.  It started snowing around 12pm in the afternoon and I didn't want to take him out in it, so I thought I'd wait and see if he would start feeling better.  This morning his face was still swollen, but I did get his main pills in him.   I called the vet to see if I could bring him in today and apparently they are EXTREMELY busy and she said I should have brought him in yesterday since bites usual get infected.  Thanks for the guilt trip!!  I already feel terrible.  So, they are fitting him in at 12:00pm today.  He was doing so good before the bite.  I'm terribly afraid they are going to tell me something really bad today.
Sorry this is so off the topic of the BFC.  I just wanted to explain why I haven't been around this week. I did weigh myself yesterday (Wednesday weigh in for me) and I'm down another two pounds to 164lbs.  I have been going all this week with the not having ANY snacks method, have tried to get in a little exercise but couldn't fit much in this past week.  I really think the NO SNACKS is the key for me.   If I get hungry in between meals I make hot tea with stevia, nothing else.  I've been drinking a lot of tea!   If anyone is having trouble losing I would recommend trying to only eat your three BFC meals and try cutting out anything in between for awhile, even nuts, coconut bread, and my favorite the 85% chocolate.    Well, that's it for now.  Sorry for rambling and whining about my week and I hope all of you are doing really well!!  I will catch up on the blogs later this week hopefully.

  1. Oh Beth, so sorry for all that you have been going through. You lose weight during stress too. Hey we have to take it anyway we can. Don't worry about the dog. Having gone through that same thing, I know what it's like. I'm sure he will be ok. Sorry about your husbands uncle and that your aunt has gone through so much. Take care of yourself and hang in there. That which doesn't kill us will only make us stronger. Sending love and hugs from me to you!

  2. HI Beth - Well considering what you have been going thru, and you still managed to lose 2lbs. WOW. I am sorry about the Aunt and uncle and of course the dog. I hope your dog gets better.
    I think Jorge confuses people sometimes cause you certainly don't have to eat snacks if you are not hungry. Extra calories - you know.

  3. What a week...but you still managed to lose 2 lbs! It seems like many of us have started 2012 with some challenges. ...but we're still hanging in there.

  4. First of all I am sorry for all that you are going through. I have a
    friend that does the taxes for her husbands business and she is TOTALLY
    stressed out getting everything together.
    You have had quite the week. I pray that it gets better soon. I am
    sorry about your Aunt:( The quality of life is so important, you are a
    good woman!
    I'm glad it is working for you not to snack, keep up the good work and
    you will hit 160 in no time! Even allowable things add up over time.

  5. i am so sorry to hear about the problems, but great job on that weight loss! I also think that no snacks is a key point for me too. Just don't need them. You know, no one ate snacks before the 70's and convenience foods started pouring into the grocery stores. Something to think about. Take care!

  6. Beth, I tried posting on you blog yesterday but for some reason it would not let me so I hope this time it works. I am so sorry to hear about all the stresses that have been going on in your life. I hope that things get a little better for you this week. Congrats on the weight loss despite all the stresses. I hope your aunt is doing better and the dog too. Sorry to hear about your husband's uncle I know how hard it is to lose a loved one.

  7. Oh Dear! What a week you have had indeed! I am so sorry that things have been so stressful for you and I pray that things start to look up again really soon. I know its not the ideal situation but it sounds like this stressful incident may have gotten you back on the losing wagon. 164...that is fantastic! My last weight was 177.4 I am still trying to lose what I gained over the holidays. Its been better since I switched up my eating to going with less processed foods & more whole foods but god gracious, this trickle effect is exhausting! I cannot wait to see the 160s. I feel like I have been waiting for it forever!!!
