Wednesday Weigh In - July 6th

Well I had high hopes for a dramatic weight loss this week and it was......only a pound.  I'm now at 178lbs.   That is still 19 pounds down from when I started on April 9th, but geez this weight loss thing is so slow!  The reasons I thought I would have a more dramatic weight loss this month?  I started walking my dogs in the evening after dinner with my youngest son.   My son really keeps me diligent about walking, although I think he is into it for the dogs sake, lol!   Also I have cut out almost all snacking in between meals.  I used to grab handful of almonds or slices of cheese between meals if I got hungry, now I just wait.  Also I started making myself some sort of eggs each morning.  They keep me full longer and I figured a bigger meal in the morning would also be better than a bigger meal in the evening.  Plus I have been having no grains with dinner.  The only carbs I get with dinner are in the vegetables I serve.   I really don't know what else I can do except incorporate some kind of exercise or stop drinking cream in my coffee.  To be honest the coffee with cream in the morning and after dinner is the highlight of my day, so I really don't want to give that up.   You have to have something to look forward to!!  The good news is that I don't mind the way I'm eating.  I don't really feel the urge to have something I'm not allowed to have.  Even the cupcakes and brownies that were served over the 4th of July were fairly easy to pass up.   I guess I'll just keep plowing ahead and hope for a bigger weight loss next week!

  1. I think 19 lbs since April is a great weight loss:) I am with you on wishing it would come off way faster! You are doing really good.
On my blog you mentioned my Olive Garden meal, here's how I validate it. When we used to eat there I would have 4-5 bread sticks, 2 bowls of Zuppa soup, and the dinner size portion of the chicken Parm. Then we would have dessert! I have cut that back tremendously:) I knew if I couldn't go to my favorite places and have my favorite meals, I would quit too soon. The first 3 months of BFC I was pretty good, now that I am closer to my goal, I have gotten a little more lax. I have a tap and track program on my iphone that tells me the carbs and sugar in restaurant food. I try not to go over on sugars, but I do go over on carbs:( It is a constant learning experience.
I use Heavy Whipping Cream in my coffee, my book shows that it is a 0/0 value. It is creamy and yummy. I tried it in my cheerios once and they tasted like a sweet dessert! I drink about 2 quarts of ice tea a day and I always have ice water at my side. My biggest problem has been fiber.
I'm so glad we are on this journey together:)

  2. I am just glad to hear that we can eat at Olive Garden and still lose weight. I think I get so worried that any little thing is going to make me stall or even gain. But you're right, if we can't go to our favorite places or find a way to have some favorite meals, we wouldn't last long on any diet. I too drink a ton of iced tea all day and fiber is hard for me as well! I sort of wish there was a 25gram fiber pill to take once a day and get it over with!! Your blog is really inspirational to me, thanks!

  3. I agree with Kay! 19 pounds in three months is great! That's over a pound a week, very sustainable.

Great job adding the walk - that will definitely help your health, IMHO. My only suggestion to you as far as your diet goes is to STAY THE COURSE. Sometimes it takes a little while for our bodies to get a hang of it, and the weight takes its time. I agree with the cream in the coffee, but you may want to try measuring it out if you don't already. I notice that if I just pour I give myself a lot more than I actually need to have a nice cup of coffee. If I measure out a tsp for each cup of coffee, I get a good creamy coffee but it doesn't add a TON of extra calories, like just pouring it out does. But I enjoy coffee, LOL, so I could easily drink a half a cup of whip cream every day if I didn't pay attention.

Thanks for coming by my blog!

  4. Thank you Dawn! Yeah, I don't measure out the cream and probably dump too much in. If I stall week I'll try measuring, plus I'm going to start drinking more water.
